Brian Chih-Chiang Lo was born in Taipei, Taiwan in 1980, raised by his mother Lo-mei Peng. He moved to Alaska at the age of 16 to live with his father’s family in Seward. He later received his BFA in Painting from the University of Alaska Anchorage in 2004. Lo lived and worked in New York City from 2004 to 2007, before moving to Hawaii to continue his education at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa.
Lo has sought to use artistic creation to capture expressions of human emotion, develop knowledge, and embody the human experience. Through Lo’s experience of moving family to family, relocating across nations, and translating between languages and cultures, he has found himself drawn toward exploring the condition of human relationships. |
